Gujarat Police Conducts Raid on Ahmedabad Office, Claims Aam Aadmi Party
In the lead-up to the Gujarat Assembly elections later this year, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being "extremely rattled" by the growing support the party is receiving in the state.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the claim, stating that the BJP is mistreating power and robbing their office due to fear of the AAP's growing popularity in Gujarat. The AAP's Gujarat system leader, Isudan Gadhvi, further claimed that a raid was conducted at their workplace in Ahmedabad, lasting for 2 hours, but no findings were made.
The raid was reportedly conducted by the Income Tax Department. The AAP has maintained that similar raids are being conducted in Gujarat, mirroring those that took place in Delhi. Notably, the raid allegedly took place immediately after Kejriwal arrived in Ahmedabad.
In a tweet, Gadhvi stated, "The BJP is conducting raids on our office in Ahmedabad. The raid lasted for 2 hours, but they found nothing. This is yet another example of the BJP mistreating power and robbing our office due to fear of the growing popularity of the Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat."
Kejriwal also criticised the BJP after the raid incident, claiming there was nothing found during the raid in Delhi and Gujarat. The AAP maintains that these raids will not yield any findings.
The AAP leaders and workers are claimed to be "hardcore honest", and the party has been gaining momentum in Gujarat, with many seeing it as a viable alternative to the BJP. The Gujarat Assembly elections are scheduled to be held later in the year, and the AAP's claims against the BJP could potentially impact the election results.
However, no immediate action was taken by the Gujarat Police in response to the AAP's claim. The BJP has yet to comment on the allegations made by the AAP.
