Halloween Night in EssenMülheim on the Ruhr: High fireworks usage reported - numerous incidents
In the cities of Essen and Mülheim an der Ruhr, Halloween was marked by a series of incidents that kept the local police force busy. From 4:00 PM yesterday until 5:00 AM today, a total of 598 incidents were reported, with 166 of them related to Halloween celebrations.
One of the most notable incidents occurred in Bergmannsfeld, where a Bengal flare was lit, violating the Explosives Act. The suspect, a 32-year-old German man, was reportedly part of a group of right-wing extremists. The police are investigating the incident further.
Elsewhere, a private individual organised a procession under the theme "Gather instead of loitering/ The city belongs to all of us!" south of Essen's main train station. The procession, which peaked at about 500 participants, passed without any reported incidents.
However, the police had to intervene at a party in an underground garage on Dreilindenstraße, where about 40 young people were celebrating Halloween and disturbing the peace.
In Mülheim an der Ruhr, the police reported no unusual incidents related to Halloween beyond their regular duties.
The procession, the party on Dreilindenstraße, and other incidents covered a wide range of police work, including a reported homicide in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old German man was reported for lighting a Bengal fire in Bergmannsfeld. The host of a party, a 17-year-old individual, did not comply with the officers' requests to quiet down, and the party had to be ended. The heavily intoxicated host then attacked the officers and resisted. A blood sample was taken from the host at the police station.

In addition, the police set up a mobile video surveillance system on Philosophenweg, opposite the Albert-Schweitzer-Straße, but there were no further notable observations.
