Harborg explosion in Odessa: vessel harmed by underwater bomb
In the Odessa region, an unspecified date has seen a significant event unfold. A cargo ship, identified as the Russian vessel "Svetlomor-4," experienced an explosion near the coast, according to local media reports citing witnesses. The exact cause of the explosion is suspected to have been a sea mine.
The explosion in the port of Odessa was not the only incident in the region. Late in the evening of August 30, Russian drones were recorded moving from the Black Sea towards Odessa and Chernomorsk, leading to attacks on both cities. Preliminary data suggests that over 50 drones were launched at Odessa, with Chernomorsk also coming under heavy fire.
The aftermath of these attacks has left a trail of disruption. Power and water supply disruptions occurred in Chernomorsk due to the damage to critical infrastructure. As a result, over 29,000 subscribers were left without power. DTEK confirmed the absence of electricity in part of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district due to a local network failure.
One person was reportedly injured during the attack on Odessa and Chernomorsk. Thick smoke is rising from parts of the damaged cargo ship, "Svetlomor-4."
It is important to note that official information about the incident is currently unavailable, and the exact date of the explosion in Odessa is not specified. However, sea mines are reported to be floating in the area near Odessa, posing a threat to civilian vessels.
Restoration work is ongoing, with critical infrastructure in both cities running on generators. Despite the challenges, the affected communities are working to recover and rebuild. The incident, while not yet confirmed to be related to any specific conflict or attack, serves as a reminder of the potential risks and uncertainties in the region.
