Health Ministry Denies Waivers for Two Towns: "No Derogation" in Verbania and Domodossola

The new hospital project for the region of Verbano Cusio Ossola has been a prominent topic in recent weeks, with the latest developments offering further clarity on its path.

The text sent from Rome reaffirms what was already reported in the Evaluation Committee minutes. The new hospital project is the only viable option for the region, given the ministry's conditions. This response further clarifies the path for the project of the new (and only) hospital.

However, the new hospital project does not include the possibility of saving both Dea, as previously hoped. One of the conditions set by the ministry is for the Region to guarantee the standards of the ministerial decree 70/2015, which sets the minimum criteria for keeping a Dea functioning. As a result, only one Dea can be kept according to the conditions.

The new hospital project is being pushed by the regional health assessor, Federico Riboldi. The ministry had previously stated that it was possible to restructure the Castelli Hospital and the San Biagio Hospital with 200 million euros, but with conditions. It is likely that the new hospital project will replace the current Dea at the Castelli Hospital and the San Biagio Hospital.

The new hospital project has received support from both the Brothers of Italy and the PD. However, the ministry has denied a request to update the project with a specific derogation from Dm 70/2015. The ministry responded to the Region's clarification request about public health in the most northern province of Piedmont.

There had been calls from various parts of the Vco to leverage the mountainous specificity to save the two Dea. However, these calls have been met with a "no" from the Roman offices. The search results do not provide the name of the regional health commissioner actively involved in the construction of the new and only hospital in recent weeks.

The new hospital project has been a contentious issue, with many in the region expressing concern about the loss of the Dea. The project's future remains uncertain, but it is clear that the new hospital is the only viable option for the region under the ministry's conditions.
