Healthcare system consolidated for onco-hematological treatments across all hospitals in Castilla-La Mancha region
In a series of significant moves, the Council of Government in Castilla-La Mancha has authorised several key agreements aimed at modernising the region's healthcare system and enhancing the efficiency of its services.
One of the most notable developments is the Framework Agreement for the supply of computer equipment, valued at around 31.5 million euros. This contract encompasses the acquisition of desktop computers, laptops, printing, copying, and digitization devices, as well as videoconferencing systems, multimedia rooms, and specific equipment for graphic design. The agreement also includes the annual renovation of a substantial number of equipment, such as 233 equipment, 2,065 desktop computers, and 2,100 equipment in the printing, copying, and digitization area.
Another significant initiative is the contracting of 46 residential places in the Mancha Centro area, with an investment of 2.1 million euros for the next two years. These residences will cater to people over 55 years old with mental health problems, and in the past year, these resources have attended to over 450 people with severe mental illness. The Foundation currently operates five residences in the Albacete, Mancha Centro, Cuenca, Toledo, and Talavera de la Reina health areas, with three of them being under its own title.
The region is also implementing a unified system for oncological and haematological treatments in all its hospitals, with an investment of 3 million euros. This new system aims to improve the quality of care, guarantee patient safety, and modernise the health system. The software for this unified system, developed by the company Indra, will facilitate the exploitation of health data and results, improving medical decision-making and designing health policies based on real information.
Moreover, the software will allow professionals to immediately access patients' clinical history in case of transfer or emergency, ensuring continuity of care and greater safety. It will also facilitate defining therapeutic protocols, validating and preparing medication, administering it, and monitoring pharmaceutical therapy.
The contract for the supply of natural gas for the next two years has also been authorised, with an investment of over 18.5 million euros. Currently, 89 hospitals, specialty centers, health centers, clinics, and administrative buildings use natural gas in their boilers. The agreement aims to strengthen the assistential and management processes of regional healthcare, providing professionals with modern and efficient tools.
These initiatives are part of the work that the Sociosanitary Foundation of Castilla-La Mancha has been developing in recent years. Until now, each hospital worked with a different system, without homogeneity in clinical or pharmaceutical management. The new agreements will address the obsolescence of the existing park, with the incorporation of new material adapted to current demands.
In summary, the Council of Government's decisions reflect a commitment to enhancing the quality of care, ensuring patient safety, and modernising the health system in Castilla-La Mancha.
