Heating system for Bremen-Nord district nearing completion soon
The construction of Bremen-Nord's first district heating network is progressing, with Senator Kathrin Moosdorf recently inspecting the site. This initiative, aimed at providing climate-neutral heat supply to Bremen Blumenthal, is being developed by enercity Contracting Nord GmbH.
Contracts for the right of way for the district heating network were signed less than a year ago. The Managing Director of enercity Contracting Nord GmbH, Michael Hartung, is overseeing the construction work, alongside Dr. Manfred Schüle, Managing Director of enercity contracting, and Prof. Dr. Marc Hansmann from enercity.
In recent months, approximately 2.4 kilometers of district heating pipes have been laid in the ground. Notable large customers initially connected to the network include the Gesundheit Nord hospital in Blumenthal and the initial reception facility for refugees on Lindenstraße.
The district heating network is set to be operational this year, marking a significant step towards Bremen's goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy solutions. In a second step, individual street sections will also be connected to the network.
Images of the construction work were provided by the Press Office SUKW, offering a glimpse into the progress being made. The Senator for the Environment, Climate, and Science has expressed her satisfaction with the progress, emphasising the importance of such projects in the fight against climate change.
This district heating network is a testament to Bremen's commitment to a greener future, demonstrating that sustainable energy solutions can be successfully implemented in urban environments. As the construction work continues, the city of Bremen-Nord moves one step closer to a more sustainable and climate-friendly heat supply system.
