Snow Clearance Operations Underway in Almaty City

As of 21:00, Almaty city has received up to 5 cm of snow, and snowfall began in the mountainous regions at 13:30 and in Almaty city at 15:15, as reported by Almaty.tv. Round-the-clock duty has been organized in district akimats and contracting organizations to tackle the winter weather.

Work is underway to clear sidewalks, pedestrian zones, public transport stops, and parking areas. Over 400 road workers are involved, and 215 sand-spreading vehicles have been treating roads with anti-ice materials since the start of snowfall to prevent icy conditions. A total of 2,680 tons of anti-ice materials have been used, including 219 sand-spreading vehicles.

The Akimat Almaty (Stadtverwaltung) is the highest authority responsible for organizing and overseeing snow clearance operations.
