High school, Görres, contributes funds to a charitable organization for children
The Goerres-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf has been fostering a longstanding friendship with the local children's aid center, situated on Euler Street, for over a decade. This relationship, which began in 2011, has seen students from the school regularly contributing to the children's aid center's annual festival.
In 2011, the school took on the patronage of the children's aid center's festival, marking the beginning of this fruitful partnership. Since then, the patronage of the children's aid organization on Euler Street has been overseen by the company Schaeffler.
One of the highlights of this partnership has been the charity run event, organised by Michael Fleckenstein from the Sports Department. This year's event, held as a car-free Sunday, permitted a free circumnavigation of Kö-Graben during the run. The event was attended by notable figures such as the deputy director of the children's aid center, Jürgen Hampel, the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Thomas Geisel, and the board member of the Düsseldorf Children's Aid Center Foundation, Michael Riemer, among others.
School officials and student representatives were also present at the charity run, demonstrating the school's commitment to the cause. Student representatives Frieda Boß, David Jacob, and Carolin Hartung were instrumental in the event's success, with Clemens Maag, the school's public relations officer, providing updates and information.
The students' contributions to the charity run and the annual festival have been varied and impactful. They have performed at significant events such as the 40th anniversary celebration, and proceeds from school projects and performances have been donated to the children's aid center.
The proceeds from this year's charity run were also donated to the children's aid center, further strengthening the bond between the school and the organization. The chair of the school council, Regina Schultz-Möller, expressed her pride in the school's ongoing support for the children's aid center and looked forward to continued collaboration in the future.
