Hong Kong Jockey Club Achieves Historic Five-Time Level 4 Responsible Gambling Accreditation
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has once again proven its commitment to responsible gambling, securing the Level 4 accreditation for the fifth consecutive time on January 1, 2025. This achievement makes the Club the first organization in the world to receive the highest-level responsible gambling accreditation five times in a row.
The World Lottery Association (WLA) granted the accreditation, which was based on the WLA's Responsible Gambling Framework. This framework consists of ten main components, including research, employee programs, game design, advertising and marketing communications, and reporting and measurement.
The assessment panel, comprised of independent experts, commended the Club for its "quality, scope, and strategic alignment demonstrated throughout its submission." They praised the Club's stringent internal responsible gambling governance and improvement mechanisms, including the establishment of a Responsible Gambling Committee.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club first received Level 4 accreditation in 2011, making it the first organization in Asia to do so. Since then, it has been successfully recertified in 2015, 2018, 2021, and 2025.
The Club's dedication to preventing gambling harm, especially among younger individuals and underage groups, was also recognized. It continually collaborates with various organizations in terms of research on responsible gambling.
To maintain the Level 4 accreditation, operators and organizations must demonstrate ongoing improvement and evaluate their operations. The Hong Kong Jockey Club has shown this commitment by implementing a range of initiatives and ensuring compliance with them on a daily basis.
In addition, the Club remains committed to improving its code of conduct and employee policies. It continually strives to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all its patrons.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club's achievements and commitments have surpassed the established Level 4 accreditation standards, as explained by the WLA. This recertification in 2025 designates the Club as a leader in responsible gambling practices.
