Hulkenberg encountered interruptions or irritations due to temporary breaks
Nico Hülkenberg, the experienced Formula One driver, had a strong weekend in Hungary, narrowing the gap for fifth place in the championship standings. As he prepares for the next race in Zandvoort, the Dutch town that will host the 15th round of the 2025 season on August 31, Hülkenberg has expressed his focus and determination.
In an official media session on August 28, Hülkenberg discussed the upcoming race, comparing the weather conditions in Zandvoort to those at Silverstone. He reminisced about his first F1 podium finish at the British GP and highlighted the unpredictable nature of the Dutch weather, which is expected to be windy, with rain and dry spells.
Hülkenberg acknowledged the challenge the weather poses, especially on the smooth and fast track in Zandvoort, but expressed his enjoyment of driving there. He also praised the Sauber team for their significant improvements since Barcelona, running well ever since.
The German driver attributes his recent weaker qualifying performances to small details such as imperfect execution, insufficient laps, and less-than-ideal out-laps. However, he emphasized that his quick lap on Saturdays is typically his strength, which he attributes to the team's progress rather than the car's performance.
Hülkenberg is currently focusing on the present, giving 99.9% of his attention to the race ahead. He knows the task at hand, acknowledging that many teams can fight for fifth place, and that one good result can significantly change the standings.
The Audi factory drivers who will race in Formula 1 from 2026 are Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Hülkenberg, who will be representing Audi from next year, dismissed the criticism of other drivers regarding the simulators for the new cars. He emphasized the importance of drivers providing feedback to help the team identify areas for improvement and set the direction for the team's development.
Gabriel Bortoleto secured valuable points for Sauber in the battle for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship during the Hungarian Grand Prix. Both Hülkenberg and his teammate share credit for Sauber's progress, as improvements are always a team effort.
Hülkenberg expressed his disappointment about the four-week break, stating he could have achieved more in the previous race in Budapest. Despite this, he remains optimistic about the rest of the season and is looking forward to the challenge that Zandvoort presents.
As the fight for fifth place heats up, Nico Hülkenberg and the Sauber team are ready to face the unpredictable weather conditions and the competitive field in Zandvoort. With their focus on the present and their determination to improve, they are poised to make a strong showing in the remaining races of the 2025 season.
