The automotive industry is abuzz with anticipation as Hyundai prepares to introduce its latest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 3. Scheduled to start production in early 2026, this compact SUV is poised to strengthen Hyundai's role as a significant European manufacturer.

The Ioniq 3, a sleek and aerodynamic vehicle, will be produced at Hyundai's facility in İzmit, Turkey, where the models i10, i20, and Bayon are currently manufactured. This compact SUV, approximately 4.30 meters in length, falls between the Inster and the Kona EV in size.

The Ioniq 3's design is a fusion of sporty coupe aesthetics and practical SUV features. It boasts aerodynamic details such as a rear wing, diffuser, splitter, and a strongly inclined glasshouse. Its design is inspired by the flat Ioniq 6 and differs from the angular Ioniq 5, offering a unique and distinctive look.

Hyundai plans to introduce its new design language, "Art of Steel," with the Ioniq 3. This design philosophy emphasises flowing forms, precise transitions, and distinctive lines, creating a cohesive and modern look for the vehicle.

Under the hood, the Ioniq 3 is powered by a 150 kW electric machine and utilises the modern 400-volt variant of the E-GMP platform. It will be available with two battery sizes: 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. This powertrain setup promises a WLTP range of approximately 418 to 587 kilometers.

The Ioniq 3 is positioned to compete with the Cupra Born, offering a performance that is positioned between the Inster and the Ioniq 5. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under eight seconds, making it a formidable competitor in the compact electric SUV market.

In addition to its impressive performance, the Ioniq 3 also boasts a software-centric architecture, a feature that sets it apart from the Kona. This architecture promises a seamless and intuitive user experience for the vehicle's occupants.

The production version of the Ioniq 3 will be unveiled at the IAA Mobility in September 2025, providing a closer look at this exciting new addition to Hyundai's electric Ioniq family. With its unique design, impressive performance, and cutting-edge technology, the Ioniq 3 is sure to turn heads and make waves in the European automotive market.
