ICC initiates pre-sale of Women's World Cup tickets at just $1 per ticket, less than a month before tournament commencement
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the pre-sale for tickets to the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup has commenced. The tournament, set to take place across five venues, will see a significant increase in the prize pool compared to the previous edition.
Five venues have been selected for the tournament: Guwahati, Indore, Navi Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo. The opening match will be played in Guwahati, with India and Sri Lanka facing off on September 30.
The prize pool for the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup has been raised to an impressive $13.88 million, almost quadruple the prize pool of the 2022 edition. This makes the prize pool for the women's tournament higher than the $10 million prize pool for the men's World Cup in 2023.
Ticket prices for the pre-sale phase started at INR 100, approximately $1.13 or £0.84. A second phase of sales will begin at 8pm IST on September 9. However, ticket sales for the knockout stages have not been announced yet.
The top four finishers from the group stage will advance to the knockout stages, with eight teams competing in the round-robin group stage. Ticket sales are available for group matches only, as tickets for the knockout stages are not currently on sale.
The ongoing ticket ballots for next year's Women's T20 World Cup in England have put pressure on the board to announce details of ticket sales for the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup. Comparisons have been made to ticket sales for the men's World Cup in India in 2023, where tickets were released only 41 days before the start of the tournament.
Ticket sales can be made on tickets.cricketworldcup.com. The venue for the final has yet to be decided.
The 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup promises to be an exciting event, with increased prize money and a wider audience. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of the pre-sale and secure their seats for the group matches. More details about the knockout stages and the final venue will be announced in due course.
