Iconic Toyota Land Cruiser once owned by Steve Irwin to be sold at auction.
Collecting Cars Offers Steve Irwin's Iconic 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ47 Troop Carrier
A unique piece of Australian history and culture is up for grabs as Collecting Cars is currently offering Steve Irwin's 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ47 Troop Carrier. This vehicle, once a working vehicle at Queensland's Australia Zoo, has traveled an impressive 415,426km from new and comes with a rich history.
Lee Hallett, the head of APAC at Collecting Cars, has highlighted the significance of this Land Cruiser, stating that it represents an important part of Australia's history and culture, particularly in light of Steve Irwin's conservation efforts through education at the Australia Zoo.
The Land Cruiser, adorned with green-coloured "The Crocodile Hunter" lettering in the authentic typeface, graced the Australia Zoo for many years. The distinctive aluminium bull bar on the vehicle dates back to its time at the zoo. The Troop Carrier also features unique chassis and body details, and a rear crossmember from a ute model.
Robert Irwin, Steve Irwin's son, acquired the Land Cruiser after his father's tragic death. The vehicle comes with a letter of authentication from Robert Irwin, along with a history booklet and a letter from him authenticating the vehicle's provenance.
The vehicle's current owner acquired it directly from Australia Zoo in 2013 and has since undertaken extensive mechanical refurbishment, an electrical system overhaul, and other improvements. The Land Cruiser is now powered by a 4.9-litre Cleveland Ford V8 engine.
