Illegal Practices Unearthed in Slimming Injection Business of Rhine-Main Region

A medical assistant from Frankfurt has been under investigation by the public prosecutor's office for several months, according to recent reports. The investigation is focused on allegations of counterfeiting weight loss injection prescriptions and reselling these counterfeits for profit.

The investigation began in 2023 and has since uncovered a thriving business in weight loss injections, allegedly operated by a 41-year-old medical assistant. The gang, which includes three suspects, has been accused of causing significant damage to several health insurers, with the estimated damage being in the six-figure range.

During the searches of three apartments in Frankfurt and Darmstadt, as well as a medical practice, investigators seized practice management software, counterfeit weight loss injection prescriptions, false sick leave certificates, and several firearms.

The fraudulent activity has reportedly caused harm to the health of individuals who received the counterfeit weight loss injections, although the extent of this harm is not specifically quantified in the text. It is also worth noting that a 31-year-old and a 50-year-old man are believed to be involved in the business, but no information about their arrests or the search results for them is currently available.

In a statement, the public prosecutor's office confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the investigation, but did not mention any new arrests. The office also stated that further details may be released as the case progresses.

However, the public prosecutor's office has not provided information about any legal actions taken against the employer of the medical assistant. The counterfeit prescriptions issued by the medical assistant were used in over 100 pharmacies, primarily in South Hesse and the Rhine-Main area.

The public prosecutor's office stressed that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward. A single weight loss injection can cost hundreds of euros, making the alleged fraud a serious matter with potentially far-reaching consequences.
