A 79-year-old man from St. Lorenz in Lübeck fell victim to a shock call on September 3, 2025. According to reports, the incident was initiated by a call allegedly from a bank employee who claimed counterfeit money was in circulation.

The man was told he had counterfeit money and was asked to hand over the money to a bank employee. He confirmed having cash at home and provided the serial numbers of his banknotes. The unknown man, described as approximately 20 years old, about 180 cm tall, slim, with dark skin, wearing a white sweater and dark trousers, fraudulently took an envelope containing 2,000 euros from the elderly man. The man left the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The Police Directorate Lübeck is investigating fraud in this incident. Witnesses who may have noticed suspicious persons or vehicles in the areas of Moristeig, Elsterweide, and Binnenland are asked to contact the police.
