The automotive world is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming release of the Volkswagen ID. Polo GTI, scheduled for 2026. This compact electric sports car is a testament to Volkswagen's commitment to innovation and its rich GTI heritage.

The new ID. Polo GTI, much like its historic predecessors such as the Golf GTI 1 (1976), Golf GTI 2 16V (1986), and Golf GTI 4 "25 years of GTI" (2001), will offer seating arrangements for up to five people and a cargo volume of 490 to 1330 liters.

The vehicle's exterior boasts dynamic proportions, a red stripe under the air intake, LED matrix headlights, a connecting light strip with an illuminated VW logo, and 20-inch wheels. It will measure 4053 mm in length, 1816 mm in width, and 1530 mm in height.

At the heart of the ID. Polo GTI is a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, whose 12 o'clock mark is illuminated. The steering wheel also houses the GTI Experience Control System, controlled via a golf ball-shaped controller. This system allows for individual adjustment of steering, sound, and simulated shifting.

The interior of the ID. Polo GTI is no less impressive. Sports seats with integrated GTI logos, pulsating light when the vehicle is locked, two separate screens for cockpit display and infotainment control, and the use of the entire windshield as a projection surface for augmented reality overlays are just some of the features that drivers can look forward to.

The Volkswagen ID. Polo GTI is a new development that was showcased at the IAA. It is being developed and manufactured by Volkswagen in collaboration with the Volkswagen Group Core Brand Group, which includes SEAT, CUPRA, ŠKODA, Volkswagen, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. This collaboration aims to share synergies and economies of scale for entry-level electric models.

A pre-production model of the ID. Polo GTI was presented in September 2025, signalling that the wait for this exciting new electric vehicle is nearly over. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release.
