Immigration students highly appreciate Germany
In a recent survey conducted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Germany has emerged as a popular destination for international students, with four out of five participants choosing it as their preferred country for studying abroad. The survey also highlighted some challenges faced by these students, but overall, the integration of international students in daily life in Germany appears to be largely successful.
The survey, which included students outside of universities, found that 80% of international students within universities reported no experiences of discrimination, while outside of universities, 80% reported no experiences or occasional experiences of discrimination. A significant number, however, outside of universities, experience discrimination frequently, albeit at a lower rate of 13%.
One of the factors contributing to Germany's appeal is its leading role in many technological fields. This, combined with attractive career prospects and relatively low education and living costs, makes Germany an attractive destination for international students. Education in English is also offered in Germany, which adds to its appeal.
The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München was identified as the university in Germany with the highest number of international students who are predominantly satisfied with their education there. Four out of five international students are satisfied with their education in Germany and would recommend it to others.
However, the survey also revealed that many international students face challenges in daily life, such as housing, bureaucracy, and communication with German peers. Despite these challenges, only two percent of international students feel not well-integrated in Germany, with three-quarters feeling well-integrated or very well-integrated.
Interestingly, many international students considering staying in Germany after graduation are interested in starting their own businesses. This ambition, coupled with the attractive career prospects, further cements Germany's position as an attractive destination for international students.
In conclusion, while challenges do exist, the survey results suggest that international students are thriving in Germany. The country's commitment to providing quality education, its technological prowess, and its attractive career prospects make it a popular choice for students from around the world.
