Implementation Duties Delegated to The Commission for the Execution of the Programme
In the heart of Wiesbaden, at Schlossplatz 6, the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden hosted a significant event aimed at shaping the future of climate education in early childhood education.
The expert dialogue, part of a new statewide event series, was organised by a collaboration between the Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs (HMSI), the Green Space Department, Coordination Office Climate Education Landscape Wiesbaden, and the Social Affairs Office, Department of Daycare Centers and Daycare Services, of the State Capital Wiesbaden.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger expressed her satisfaction as the dialogue took place at the Fasanerie, a renowned nature pedagogical centre in Wiesbaden, known for its climate education network. Approximately 50 early childhood education professionals gathered at the venue, strengthening the quality of educational work through connections with local offers.
Kerstin Jacobs from the Coordination Office Climate Education Landscape Wiesbaden stated that the event was designed to set impulses for climate education in early childhood education across the state. Children can learn about protecting the planet through practical offers, such as expert dialogues, which are important tools for integrating climate education in kindergartens and daycare services in a playful way.
Councilor Bettina Gies, who hosted the event, emphasised the preparatory work in Wiesbaden for climate education. The event series is a continuation of a history of successful, careful, and cross-departmental preparatory work in Wiesbaden for climate education since the 1980s.
State Secretary Manuela Strube stated that early childhood education lays the foundation for sustainable thinking and responsible action. Further dialogue formats are planned as part of this statewide event series, with the focus on implementing climate protection, climate change adaptation, and sustainability in early childhood education.
