In the bustling Southeast Asian nation of Vietnam, the automobile market is experiencing a significant surge in 2025. According to data provided by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association, the total vehicle sales in June reached almost 32,000 units, marking a 9% increase from May 2025 and a substantial 20% increase year on year.

This impressive growth has been driven, in part, by increased imports. Over the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam imported over 111,000 finished vehicles, a 21% increase from the same period in 2024. The imports from China and Thailand led this rise, with China remaining the largest supplier of vehicles to Vietnam, followed by Thailand, South Korea, Japan, India, and Indonesia.

Among the major players in the Vietnamese automobile market, Ford held the second-largest share with 42,175 units, representing 14.2% of the market. Ford was closely followed by Honda, which sold 28,276 units, accounting for 9.6% of the market. Thaco Kia and Thaco Mazda also made significant contributions, with Thaco Kia selling 34,570 units, representing 11.7% of the market, and Thaco Mazda selling 32,691 units, accounting for 11% of the market.

The sales figures for these companies are for the year 2024. It's worth noting that Toyota remained the top seller in Vietnam, with 66,576 units sold in 2024, accounting for 22.5% of the market.

Passenger vehicles accounted for more than 84,000 units, while imported trucks reached over 13,600 units. However, there are no specific publicly available data sources explicitly naming the companies with the highest new truck imports to Vietnam in 2025. General import and sales volume statistics for trucks in Vietnam exist, but detailed breakdowns by importing company for 2025 are not provided in the search results.

The value of parts and accessories imports to Vietnam stood at $2.89 billion over the same period. With the current momentum of imports in 2025, it is expected to set a new record. The number of imported vehicles in June stood at 18,811, a slight decrease from the previous month. The overall value of vehicle imports between January and the second week of July 2025 was $2.4 billion.

As the automobile market in Vietnam continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how the landscape evolves in the coming months and years. Stay tuned for more updates from the Vietnamese automobile sector.
