In a shocking incident, a driver under the influence allegedly demolishes a traffic sign from its support in a foul display of reckless driving.

On the evening of August 30, 2025, a 39-year-old man from Dormagen, whose identity remains undisclosed, was involved in a collision in Bielefeld, Germany. The incident occurred on Kesselbrink Street, heading towards Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, and involved a VW Tiguan.

According to the police, the man drove over a traffic island and tore down a traffic sign, causing significant damage to the Tiguan's front and underbody. The vehicle was found on Oberntorwall.

The police were alerted by a vigilant witness who provided them with the license plate number of the second car involved in the incident. Upon arrival, officers suspected the man had consumed alcohol and drugs.

A breathalyzer test was positive, and they ordered a blood test. The results confirmed their suspicion, and the man was charged for driving under the influence.

In addition, the man could not produce a valid driver's license, leading to another charge of driving without a license. The man also failed to stop at the scene of the accident, resulting in a hit-and-run charge.

The total property damage from the incident was estimated to be 8000 euros. The man's name is not publicly available at this time.
