In Kazakhstan, a discussion arises over who among men and women has the most leisure time available to them.

In a comprehensive survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics, insights have been gathered on how the population of Kazakhstan spends its time. The one-time modular survey, titled "Time Budget Use by the Population," was carried out from January to December 2024, involving 11,914 respondents aged 10 and above.

The survey aimed to shed light on the balance between work and personal life, identify changes in lifestyle, and provide a detailed picture of how Kazakhstanis allocate their time.

One of the key findings revealed significant differences between men and women in terms of leisure time. Men, on average, enjoy 2 hours 31 minutes for leisure activities daily, while women have an average of 1 hour 50 minutes. This suggests that men have almost twice as much leisure time as women.

In terms of work, men aged 15 and above spend an average of 5 hours 13 minutes on work per day, while women in the same age group spend 4 hours 18 minutes. Work (employment) accounts for 12.2% of the average daily time of Kazakhstanis, equating to 2 hours 56 minutes.

Interestingly, women spend more time on household activities than men. Women spend 4 hours 5 minutes on household activities, compared to men's 1 hour 51 minutes.

Personal care activities, which include sleep (9 hours 26 minutes), eating and drinking (1 hour 57 minutes), personal hygiene and care (1 hour 27 minutes), etc., account for 54.2% of the average daily time, totalling 3 hours 14 minutes.

Education accounts for 2% of the average daily time, amounting to 28 minutes, while producing goods for personal use takes up 0.8% of the average daily time, or 12 minutes.

The remaining 17.3% of the average daily time, equivalent to 4 hours 9 minutes, is spent on leisure time.

Unfortunately, specific details on the differences found between men and women in the survey were not provided. The name of the person who will conduct the next "Time Budget Use by the Population" survey in Kazakhstan in 2030 is not available in the search results as of now.

The survey is conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics every 6 years, providing valuable insights into the lifestyle and time management patterns of the Kazakhstani population.
