In Sontheim, Vodafone constructs infrastructure, initially encountering limitations but later improving mobile network quality.
In the picturesque town of Schwaikheim, Germany, Vodafone is set to modernize a local mobile station between September 8 and November 25, 2025. This project forms part of Vodafone's wider network expansion in the Heidenheim district, aiming to strengthen the regional broadband network and create a new mobile data highway.
During the construction work, the mobile station will be unavailable. However, mobile traffic will be routed via surrounding stations as much as possible to minimise disruption. Emergency calls to 112 will remain unaffected, as the location of the caller will continue to be transmitted to the emergency control center.
The modernization work involves installing additional broadband antennas to improve the mobile network. This move is in response to the growing demand for mobile data traffic, with an annual rate of over 30% in the Heidenheim district. The growth in mobile data traffic is driving the need for network expansion and modernization.

Moreover, Vodafone values diversity and inclusivity. Its corporate culture promotes diversity through numerous measures, including offers for work-life balance and networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+. The company respects and values all people, regardless of their ethnic origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief, culture, or religion.
In conjunction with its partner OXG, Vodafone is also building up to seven million new FTTH fiber optic connections in the coming years. This investment in infrastructure further underscores Vodafone's commitment to providing reliable, high-speed connectivity for its customers.
Temporary restrictions for individual customers, such as weaker network or no reception, are possible during the shutdown period. Vodafone encourages its customers to check their coverage and signal strength regularly during this time to ensure they can stay connected.
Vodafone's 5G network reaches more than 90% of the population in Germany, providing fast and reliable connectivity for its customers. With this modernization project in Schwaikheim and the Heidenheim district, Vodafone continues to invest in its network to meet the growing demand for mobile data traffic and deliver a superior customer experience.
