In the world of local tennis, several matches took place last week, with TG Hiddinghausen participating in various District Class and League contests.
The Ladies I District Class match against TC Grün-Weiß Haltern on September 26 saw TG Hiddinghausen's opponents field a team from Grün-Weiß Haltern. Despite many injury problems affecting their line-up, the match proved to be a close-fought encounter.
In the singles, Torsten Marx showed great resilience, winning his match in the match tie-break after losing the second set. Unfortunately, Ralf Tormohlen was unable to compete in his match due to injury, and Stephan Thiel emerged victorious with a score of 6:1/6:7/10:8. Meanwhile, Simon Krüger from the Men 30 II team lost his match in two sets.
The doubles matches saw some tough battles. Westen/Marx, Schenk/Siebers, and Berse/Epp all lost their respective doubles matches, while Sebastian Koch and Thorsten Berse provided reinforcement for the Men 30 II team, with both matches going to TG Hiddinghausen.
Meanwhile, the Men 40 I District League match between TG Hiddinghausen I and TC Parkhaus Wanne-Eickel 1 ended in a decisive 1:8 loss for TG Hiddinghausen. However, despite confidence, the men saw chances from position 3 onwards.
In a different match, the Men 30 II District Class Suderwicher TC II - TG Hiddinghausen II ended with a score of 2:4 in favour of Suderwicher TC II. Stephan Epp from the Men 30 II team showed strong form after his double duty yesterday with the Men 40 team, winning his singles match 6:1/6:1. Unfortunately, Christian Schenk lost his match against Sebastian Meise 1:6/0:6.
Elsewhere, the Ladies I District Class ITG Hiddinghausen I - TG Friederika Iwegen match has been postponed to September 26. The Men 30 I District Class ITG Hiddinghausen I - TC Scholven match has been cancelled by Scholven.
In a positive note, Stephan Thiel and Philipp Konow from the Men 30 II team showed strong nerves, winning their respective match tie-breaks. Philipp Konow won his singles match 4:6/6:2/10:8, while Thorsten Berse lost his match in the match tie-break after over 2.5 hours. Kai Vohwinkel also lost his match in the match tie-break.
Despite the mixed results, TG Hiddinghausen will look to regroup and continue to compete with determination in their upcoming matches.
