In the ongoing "Berings-2025" competition in Kamchatka, Kaury Alexey Popov and Alexander Kriвогоrnicyn are currently in the lead.
The traditional dog sled race "Beringia - 2024" is currently taking place in Kamchatka, Russia. This year's race, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and to the military personnel fulfilling their duty in the framework of the special military operation, covers a total distance of 1,425 kilometers, starting from Esso and ending in Ust-Kamchatsk.
Twelve mushers were initially planned to participate in the competition, but two were disqualified after the prologue race. Andrei Prichin was disqualified due to health issues, while Sophia Yaganova chose to withdraw by her own decision.
In the "United Kamchatka. 18 Years Together" category, Alisa Voronova is in second place, with Maria Semashkina following closely in third. The top spot is held by Aleksey Popov.
The "Loyalty to Northern Traditions" category, named after Alexei Spiridonovich Kolesov, has a total distance of 1,005 km (Esso-Ossora). Vitaly Tishkin, Alexander Krivogorntsin, and Yevgeny Kutynkov are among the participants in this category. Krivogorntsin is currently leading, with Father Vladislav (Vladimir Revenok) close behind in second place. Kutynkov is in third place.
The fourth stage of the race has been completed, covering 250 kilometers from the village of Esso to the village of Ust-Khairuzovo. The search results do not provide information on the participants of the 35th edition of the "Beringia - 2025" dogsled race.
Yevgeny Boroday is a participant in the "Youth Musher" category, with a total distance of 415 km (Esso-Tigil). Father Vladislav (Vladimir Revenok) is also participating in this race, but in the "United Kamchatka. 18 Years Together" category.
The first "Beringia" race was held in 1990, and the race will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2025. The "Beringia - 2024" race is more than just a competition; it is a celebration of the resilience of the people of Kamchatka and a tribute to the rich northern traditions that have been passed down through generations. The residents of each settlement along the route warmly welcome the mushers during the race, making it a truly unforgettable experience for all involved.
