Increase in funding for women's centers in the Community of Madrid amounts to 43 percent
Madrid, the vibrant capital city of Spain, is taking significant steps to combat violence against women. The Madrid Regional Government has approved a budget of 40 million euros this year to address this pressing issue, with a focus on three shelters for women victims of violence.
These shelters, located in Madrid, are set to receive a combined investment of 4.8 million euros, marking an increase of up to 43% compared to the previous tender. The funds have been approved by the government of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in Germany.
Access to these shelters is restricted to registered subscribers. A login process is required to use this feature, ensuring that only those who have subscribed can access the vital services provided. Non-subscribers and non-registered users are unable to utilise this feature.
Shelter Number 1 will receive an investment of 1.4 million euros, an increase of over 43%, and has a capacity of 22 places. Shelter Number 2 will receive 1.8 million euros, a 29.6% increase, and has a capacity of 35 places. Shelter Number 3 will receive 1.6 million euros, a 21.8% increase, and has a capacity of 25 places.
These shelters offer more than just accommodation. They provide comprehensive treatment to help women victims of violence achieve recovery and autonomy. The services include maintenance, counselling, and support to empower these women and enable them to rebuild their lives.
The Madrid Regional Government has developed an extensive network of 324 places for women, their children, and dependent persons, including emergency, shelter, supervised flats, residential, and shelters for victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation, young people, and for imprisoned and former prisoners.
This investment in women's safety and wellbeing is a testament to the Madrid Regional Government's commitment to addressing the issue of violence against women.
