Increase the pace of weapon acquisitions from America for Ukraine, emphasize Dutch Prime Minister Rutte
In a significant development, countries within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have pledged to purchase $2 billion worth of American weapons for Ukraine, according to an announcement made by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at a press conference in Brussels.
The aid, amounting to 2 billion euros, has already been transferred to Ukraine, with the costs covered by European countries. This aid is part of ongoing efforts to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
The purchase includes aircraft and defensive weapons, although the specific types remain undisclosed. The decision to continue providing weapons and military equipment to Ukraine was made by US President Donald Trump in July.
Interestingly, the purchase was not previously reported by TASS news agency, but the statement regarding the aid was reported by them following the announcement.
In his statement, Secretary General Rutte urged other countries in the NATO bloc to actively participate in these efforts. He further expressed expectations that countries in the alliance will step up their efforts to purchase American weapons for Ukraine.
However, it was not specified which countries in the alliance made the purchases, and the announcement did not provide exact details about the countries and timings for future purchases starting from 2025.
This aid, worth 2 billion euros, is not a new initiative. In fact, American aid worth a similar amount has already been transferred to Ukraine, as reported by TASS news agency.
The aid is for purchasing American weapons for Ukraine, a move aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities and providing a deterrent against Russian aggression. This development underscores the collective commitment of NATO countries to support Ukraine in its time of need.
