Stuttgart Breaks Tourism Records in 2024

In an unprecedented surge, the city of Stuttgart, Germany, experienced a remarkable boom in its tourism industry in 2024. According to the city's statistics report, the number of visitors in Stuttgart exceeded previous records, with a total of 2,318,270 guests staying in the city's hotels and accommodations.

The total number of nights spent by these guests was 4,653,227, marking a new high in visitor numbers. The summer months of 2024, during the UEFA European Football Championship, were particularly record-breaking for Stuttgart, with a significant increase in visitor arrivals and overnight stays.

The tourism industry's growth was not limited to just the summer months. The monthly statistics report published on Monday in 2024 reported the highest-ever level of visitor arrivals and overnight stays in Stuttgart. This remarkable growth has not been seen in any other major German city since 2019.

The city's statistics report also shows an increase in the number of overnight stays, suggesting that visitors were spending longer periods in Stuttgart. This boom in tourism has been attributed to the successful event series like the "WIR ROCKEN Tour," which involved multiple cities around Stuttgart, emphasizing motivation, engagement, and community spirit to make the events successful without incidents.

While Stuttgart celebrated its record-breaking year in terms of tourism, it also faced challenges in the care sector. As per the latest available figures from 2023, Stuttgart has a higher number of people in need of care compared to 2021, with 26,992 people in need of care living in the city. The increase is primarily due to longer life expectancy.

However, it's worth noting that the care dependency rate in Stuttgart remains relatively low compared to other cities. There are notable differences in care dependency rates between genders, age groups, and care levels in Stuttgart.

As Stuttgart continues to attract more visitors, it remains committed to maintaining a balance between tourism growth and the needs of its residents, particularly in the care sector. The city's success in 2024 serves as a testament to its ability to adapt and thrive in challenging times.
