Increased Traffic Congestion on Highways and Federal Roads Post-Holiday

Heavy traffic and congestion are expected across Germany and Austria from this Friday, 5th September, to Sunday, 7th September, as the summer holidays come to an end in several regions.

In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the traditional cattle drive events ("Viehscheid") on September 11 and 12 are causing disruptions. Bus lines have been suspended, and special shuttle services have been put in place in places like Bad Hindelang, Oberstaufen, and Weißach. This has affected local traffic flow significantly.

The end of summer holidays is also causing heavy traffic and congestion in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein, and five Austrian federal states.

On the motorways, there are several backups to be aware of. On the A13 between Brennersee and Innsbruck-Süd, there is an 8 km backup, with at least a 20 minutes delay. On the A7 towards Bregenz, there is a 2 km backup between Sigmarszell and Lindau-Autobahn. On the A96, there is a 9 km backup on A13 at Schönberg im Stubaital heading north, with a 43 minutes delay. Unfortunately, no new information about traffic congestion on the A3, A7, A9, A95, A96, or A99 has been provided.

To manage the increased traffic, police have implemented traffic diversion bans on A8 Munich - Salzburg and A93 Rosenheim - Kufstein until the end of the Bavarian summer holidays. Drivers are being redirected back onto the motorway at Rosenheim-West, Achenmühle, Frasdorf, Bad Aibling, Bernau a. Chiemsee, and Rohrdorf exits. Additionally, drivers are being redirected at the Felden exit on the A7.

However, the Grenztunnel on the A7 is currently clear. The Tauernautobahn, B12, and B19 are also clear at the moment.

It's essential for drivers to plan their journeys carefully during this period to avoid delays and inconvenience. Stay safe on the roads!
