Individual engages in heated argument, triggered by xenophobic slurs
In Prenzlauer Berg last night, a physical altercation took place at a local bar. The State Criminal Police Office's State Protection Department is now handling the investigation, following the escalation of a verbal argument of unknown origin.
Both parties involved in the altercation, a 45-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man and woman, were transported to the hospital for treatment. The 45-year-old woman sustained skin abrasions, a headache, and an elbow injury, while the 30-year-old man sustained a broken nose, and the woman was treated for a concussion and a fractured wrist.
The investigation, led by the State Police Criminal Office Berlin-Brandenburg, involves police officers from the Landeskriminalamt (State Criminal Police Office) Berlin and Brandenburg. Specialised personnel such as IT forensic experts are also part of the investigation, with coordination from the public prosecutor's office and affected IT departments. Various directors responsible for different districts within Berlin police are overseeing the investigation.
The exact location of the altercation was at a local bar, which has been cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. The bar's surveillance footage is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
