Individual fortifies residence engulfed in flames in Folsom, according to authorities

In a developing incident, a man was barricaded inside a burning home in a Folsom neighbourhood, according to reports. The exact identity of the individual is currently unknown.

The incident began with a 911 call from a neighbour reporting suspicious activity around 4:00 p.m. on River Ridge Way, located on the west side of the city. Officers arrived at the scene around the same time, but there was no fire at that point.

Fire officials were called to the scene around 5:30 p.m., when the first flames were reported. The suspect was believed to be armed, and as a result, fire crews are unable to send their teams inside the home until an official building inspection takes place on Tuesday.

The scene of the incident remains active, and community members are advised to avoid the area. Neighbours in homes next door were evacuated due to safety concerns with the fire.

Metro Fire is taking a defensive posture to keep the flames from spreading to surrounding homes. As of the time of writing, the individual barricaded inside the burning home has not been located. The police department made several attempts to contact the barricaded individual, but their current location remains unknown.
