59-Year-Old Faces Charges for Threatening Saxony Prime Minister
A 59-year-old man is set to answer for a threat he made against Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer on Facebook. The man, who hails from Radeburg, allegedly posted a message threatening to injure Kretschmer with blows and a weapon if the Prime Minister visited Riesa.
The threat caught the attention of the State Protection Department, leading to an investigation. The man admitted to having written the threatening post. However, no weapon was found during the search of his apartment in Radeburg, nor was any found on him, in his tent, or car when he was apprehended at a campsite in Riesa.
Initial investigations suggest that there was no serious intent behind the threat. The man was found intoxicated by State Protection officers, with a blood alcohol level of over 1.5 promille. His mobile phone was also secured for further investigation.
The Dresden Police Directorate reported the incident, and the Dresden State Protection Department is currently handling the case. No further details about the arrest or detention of the man were provided.
