Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, in conjunction with Cisco, initiate Sovereign Security Operations centre
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has taken a significant step towards national cybersecurity and digital resilience with the launch of Indonesia's Sovereign Security Operations Centre (SOC). This collaborative initiative, alongside Cisco, aims to safeguard Indonesia's digital sovereignty.
The Sovereign SOC is designed to support Indonesia's small and medium business ecosystem, offering affordable, accessible security services to over 10,000 SMEs. It is purpose-built to address the rising cybersecurity threats in the country and aims to enhance Indonesia's threat intelligence, incident response capabilities, and regulatory preparedness.
The first-ever local deployment of the Splunk Cloud Platform and Splunk Enterprise Security in Indonesia has been introduced through this collaboration. The Sovereign SOC offers real-time, AI-powered threat detection and observability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, enabling businesses and government agencies to detect and respond to threats faster.
The Sovereign SOC serves as a training ground for Cyber Resilience Labs, offering real-world simulations, industry training, and national readiness programmes. This initiative reinforces the role of public-private collaboration in cybersecurity, with the goal of training one million Indonesians in cybersecurity and networking by 2030.
The Cisco Networking Academy in Indonesia has already trained over 500,000 trainees across more than 200 institutions, contributing to the improvement of digital skills across the population. Studies suggest that such improvements may lead to economic growth in Indonesia, potentially supporting gains in productivity and cybersecurity readiness with broader impacts on GDP.
The Sovereign SOC's commitment to local content requirements, national frameworks, and international practices sets a new standard for secure, sovereign innovation in the AI era. Sensitive national data in Indonesia will be protected under Indonesian jurisdiction through the Sovereign SOC, reinforcing its role in safeguarding the country's digital assets.
The Sovereign SOC has achieved the SOC 2 compliance industry standard, ensuring the highest level of security and data protection. According to the Cisco Cybersecurity Readiness Index, 91% of organizations in Indonesia experienced an AI-related cybersecurity incident in the past year. The Sovereign SOC is poised to help address this concerning statistic and contribute to a more secure digital future for Indonesia.
