Industrial fire breaks out at a plant in Beuel, prompting a large-scale emergency response from the fire department in Bonn.

In the Beuel district of Bonn, a significant incident involving the fire and rescue services occurred at a food processing plant on Wednesday. The incident, which was triggered by a fire in the exhaust system of an in-house roastery, was first reported at 11:18 AM, automatically activating the fire alarm.

Upon arrival, emergency services found smoke billowing from the building, prompting an increase in the alarm level at 11:20 AM. The operation involved the command service, personnel from fire stations 1 and 2 of the professional fire brigade, as well as the volunteer fire departments Beuel, Dransdorf, Geislar, Rheindorf, Lannesdorf, and Endenich. In total, around 80 emergency services personnel were on the scene.

The firefighting efforts were intense due to the prevailing temperatures and humid weather. Firefighting measures were carried out both from inside the building and from outside using two turntable ladders. Two drones from the fire service provided valuable aerial images for the incident command.

Due to the nature of the operation, two firefighters had to be treated by the rescue service and taken to the hospital due to circulatory problems. The search results do not specify the name of the leader of the fire brigade operations during the fire at the coffee roastery.

The local authority of the federal city of Bonn and the police provided additional support to the emergency services. The evacuated building was vacant, and nearby residents were informed and asked to close their windows due to the heavy smoke caused by the fire.

As of 4:30 PM, emergency services are still at the scene for follow-up operations. The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe provided catering for the emergency services during the operation. In addition, the vacant fire stations were staffed by the volunteer fire departments Buschdorf, Holtorf, Holzlar, Oberkassel, and Kessenich for potential parallel incidents. The alarm level was increased again at 12:04 PM to ensure sufficient breathing apparatus carriers at the scene.

The information was originally transmitted by the Fire and Rescue Service Bonn via news aktuell. The incident serves as a reminder of the critical role the fire and rescue services play in ensuring public safety, especially in emergencies such as this one.
