Industrial fire occurred on a rooftop within Gladbecker's industrial district.
On July 11, 2025, a fire broke out on a flat roof bungalow on Hornstraße in Gladbeck's industrial area. The incident was first reported at around 15:15.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. However, the complex operation to extinguish the blaze took approximately ten hours. Around 100 personnel from the fire department, emergency services, and THW (Technical Relief Agency) were involved, using about 30 vehicles.
The fire posed a significant risk of spreading to neighboring buildings due to densely adjacent trees. To prevent this, a defensive position was established on the building's rear side. Despite the deployment of the Fire Department's cold cut foam system, the roof structure and type of insulation did not allow the system to achieve the desired result. As a result, the entire roof had to be removed with the help of the THW.
The cause of the fire in Gladbeck in 2025 has not been definitively determined. Investigations by the police are ongoing, and no confirmed cause has been publicly stated yet. The scene of the fire has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
