A fire broke out at a straw stack in Wangels, Germany, on August 26, 2025. The fire occurred at Gut Weißenhaus and has been under extinguishing work since its discovery at around 05:00.
Upon arrival of emergency services, the straw bales were already ablaze. Due to the fire and heavy smoke development, the nearby federal road 202 was completely closed, with a detour via Kaköhl, Wangels, and Farve.

The police patrolled the area irregularly during the night from August 25 to 26, 2025, due to previous straw stack fires. The police are in consultation with the owners about how to best protect the straw stacks, and initial safety measures are being examined by the owners.
