Daktronics Introduces Revolutionary Flip-Chip COB LED Display Technology

In an exciting development, Daktronics, a leading manufacturer of large-format LED video displays, has unveiled its new Flip-Chip COB (Chip On Board) LED display technology. This innovative technology is designed to cater to indoor office environments and high-ambient brightness areas, such as lobbies and concourses, while combating indoor indirect sunlight with its brightness options.

The new COB technology offers several advantages. For one, it significantly reduces heat on the display face, leading to lower power consumption and a lower cost of ownership over time. The thinnest and lightest weight cabinet in the marketplace today further contributes to the technology's energy efficiency.

Daktronics has paid particular attention to the product's safety, with an encapsulant design that provides a rich black matte finish for high-contrast, vibrant colours, and crisp imagery. This encapsulant design also serves as a barrier to impact, moisture, dust, static, and oxidation, ensuring the safety of the product during handling, shipping, and installation.

The flip-chip COB LED product comes with various brightness options for specific applications. To ensure industry-leading reliability, Daktronics has a dedicated lab for product and component testing. They select the best parts that pass stringent testing requirements to provide a product that is both reliable and durable.

The development of this flip-chip COB LED display technology was led by Steve Sciaroni. This new technology provides an alternative to traditional Surface Mount Device (SMD) and Integrated Matrix Device (IMD) LED options.

Tighter pixel spacings ranging from 1.8-0.9mm are available with the new technology, offering increased resolution and clarity. The Speed Frame installation process is used for the COB product, ensuring a fast installation with a sleek, clean appearance.

Jim Vasgaard, Daktronics national sales manager for the AV sales channel, emphasizes the importance of product reliability. Daktronics is focused on ensuring the product's reliability on day one and for many years into the future.
