In the heart of Braunschweig on the 9th of August 2025, a vibrant parade took place as part of the Christopher Street Day and Summer Hole Festival celebrations. Approximately 5000 people participated in the event, which moved through the city centre, culminating at Schlossplatz at 15:30h.

However, the parade was not without incident. Two separate instances of insults directed at police officers occurred at different locations during the event. One of these incidents took place on Schlossplatz, where a mutual physical injury occurred between four Eintracht Braunschweig fans and three parade participants. This unfortunate event marked the first reported incident of violence during the Christopher Street Day and Summer Hole Festival celebrations in Braunschweig.

The background of the incident on Schlossplatz is currently under investigation, and the search results do not provide the name of the person who insulted the police officers. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for this incident, as well as for the earlier incidents of insults against police officers.

Elsewhere during the parade, one individual was banned from the Waisenhausdamm area due to disrupting the gathering. This ban was enforced separately from the incidents on Schlossplatz.

Despite these incidents, the parade was generally peaceful, and the city centre was filled with joy and celebration. For more information about these incidents, please contact the Braunschweig Police at the following contact details:

  • Phone: 0531/476-3032, -3033 and -3034

Let's hope that future celebrations in Braunschweig can return to their peaceful and joyful nature, reflecting the spirit of unity and acceptance that these events aim to promote.
