Fire at Gräfrath Pizzeria on Lützow Street Contained and Extinguished
A fire broke out at a pizzeria on Lützow Street in Gräfrath late last night, but thankfully, no injuries were reported and the blaze was swiftly contained to the ground floor of the three-story building.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was filled with smoke, and the fire department approached the scene with three teams in breathing apparatus. The fire is believed to have started due to a technical malfunction in a deep fryer at the rear of the restaurant.
To prevent the fire from spreading, the suspended ceiling had to be opened. Firefighters used a C-jet nozzle to extinguish the blaze, and two positive pressure fans were employed to ventilate the building after the fire was under control. Remarkably, smoke did not enter the living areas above the pizzeria, keeping them habitable.
The fire caused significant property damage, and the pizzeria will require renovation. Lützow Street was fully closed in the vicinity of the incident for about two hours during the firefighting operations, but there were no significant traffic disruptions due to the late hour.
Investigations are ongoing to confirm the exact cause of the fire, and the name of the arsonist who lived in the pizzeria is not publicly available at this time. No residents were found in the apartments above the pizzeria.
The local community is relieved that the incident did not result in any injuries, and they look forward to the pizzeria's reopening once repairs are complete. The fire department's quick response and effective tactics ensured that the damage was contained and minimised.
