A fire erupted in a pizzeria located on Lützowstraße, Gräfrath, late last night. According to a police spokesperson, the blaze is believed to have originated from a technical malfunction in a deep fryer.
Upon arrival, the fire department found the restaurant filled with smoke and a fire in the kitchen. Access to the fire source was gained through a slightly open kitchen window. Three teams in breathing apparatus approached the fire, using a C-jet nozzle to extinguish it.
The emergency services were able to prevent the entry of smoke into the living areas above the pizzeria, ensuring they remained habitable. However, the fire and smoke caused significant property damage, and the pizzeria is in need of renovation.
During follow-up operations, an attached ceiling had to be opened to prevent further spread of the fire. Fortunately, no residents were found in the apartments above the pizzeria.
The Lützowstraße was fully closed at the scene of the incident for about two hours during the extinguishing work. After successfully extinguishing the fire, the building was ventilated using two positive pressure fans.
At this time, the information about who managed the pizzeria on Lützowstraße in Gräfrath before the night and handled the technical malfunction in the freezer is not publicly available.
Despite the late hour, there were no significant traffic disruptions due to the incident. The community is encouraged to stay informed as more information becomes available regarding the renovation and future operation of the affected pizzeria.
