The city of Braunschweig is set to host the much-anticipated STADTRADELN event from September 7 to September 27, 2023. Organised by the association Climate Alliance e. V. under the motto "For the climate, for Braunschweig, for you - Ride a bike", this event offers a unique opportunity for residents to come together, promote environmental protection, and compete against other teams and cities.

The city itself is the organiser of STADTRADELN 2025, with the Mayor, Dr. Thorsten Kornblum, encouraging participation from all corners of the community. Various local partners and sponsors, including Denn's BioMarket, BLSK, Fahrrad Hahne, Fitnessland, Schloss Arkaden Braunschweig, Spielwende, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Steigenberger Parkhotel Braunschweig, Swapfiets, Überland, Volksbank Brawo, and Volkswagen Financial Services AG, have pledged their support for the event.

Participants can join an existing team or register a new one. Families, friends, school classes, companies, clubs, or entire neighbourhoods are invited to participate together. Registration is open for individuals living, working, studying, or belonging to a club or university in Braunschweig. Registrations can be made immediately and during the action period via the STADTRADELN website (

Every kilometer covered by bicycle, e-bike, or handbike counts towards the total. Participants can collect kilometers for their own team and for Lion City. The cyclists with the most kilometers will be honoured by the city at the end of the action period with various prizes. All participants who have cycled at least 30 kilometers will be entered into a draw for the main prizes, which include an e-bike and a trekking bike.

Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum has emphasised that cycling is fun, strengthens personal health, and has a positive impact on the environment. Since its first participation in 2017, Braunschweig has consistently collected kilometers every year for STADTRADELN. In 2024, 8,463 cyclists covered a total of 1,543,648 kilometers in the event.

Dr. Kornblum is optimistic about achieving more kilometers in the 2023 event and wishes all participants a joyful experience cycling and collecting kilometers. He encourages everyone to join this city-wide initiative and contribute to Braunschweig's goal of promoting environmental protection and fostering a healthy, active community.
