Inland waterway collision in Middelland Canal, involving two vessels in FW Hannover

On Friday evening at 20:10, the Fire Department Hannover was alerted to a collision between two inland vessels on the Mittelland Canal in Hannover Groß-Buchholz. The incident involved a freight inland vessel and a pleasure boat near the Noltemeyer Bridge.

The Fire Department Hannover quickly responded, deploying a fire engine, an ambulance, and a doctor's emergency vehicle to the scene. The pleasure boat, carrying approximately 170 passengers, was secured to the shore by the time the fire department arrived.

The press spokesperson of the Hannover Fire Department is Jasper Schlott. No hazardous materials were leaked during the collision, and the passengers were able to continue their journey home by public transportation and taxis after the incident.

Six lightly injured people were treated by an ambulance crew and a doctor at the scene, but none had to be taken to nearby hospitals. The Fire Department Hannover remained on the scene until 21:15, assisting in the evacuation of the "Arminius" passenger ship.

The freight-carrying inland vessel continued its journey to the Anderter lock following the collision. No further details about the extent of the damage or the cause of the collision have been provided.
