Intelligent Personal Agent to enable discussions with Hyundai vehicles by 2019, as promised by the company.
Hyundai Expands Electrified Offerings with the Kona Hybrid and Introduces Intelligent Personal Agent
Hyundai is making waves in the automotive industry with its latest announcements. The South Korean automaker has added a hybrid version, the Kona Hybrid, to its popular Kona range, promising an impressive fuel efficiency of 70 mpg. The Kona Hybrid is set to go on sale in the UK in August 2019.
The Kona Hybrid is another addition to Hyundai's expanding electrified offerings. While there is still no plug-in hybrid version of the Kona available, the company promises sufficient numbers of Kona Electric cars will be available in 2020 in the UK to meet demand and shorten waiting lists.
In addition to the Kona Hybrid, Hyundai has also developed a new Intelligent Personal Agent for its cars. This innovative technology is expected to debut in 2019 and will be first fitted to the new FCEV in Korea in 2018, followed by mainstream cars in 2019.
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, another new addition to Hyundai's lineup, will also feature the Intelligent Personal Agent. This SUV will be the first car to feature biometric security technology for access and starting the vehicle. Fingerprint recognition will be used for unlocking and starting the vehicle, making it a convenient and secure option for drivers.
The Intelligent Personal Agent is designed to allow AI voice control and conversation with the car. Drivers will be able to control various car functions by speaking naturally, without needing to remember specific commands. For example, a driver could say, "Hi, Hyundai - turn the central heating at home up to 21 degrees and play my Christmas playlist in the car."
The Intelligent Personal Agent will also interact without user input, such as reminding the user of upcoming appointments and traffic delays. Furthermore, it will enable communication between the car and connected home devices, making it a truly smart and convenient addition to any driver's life.
The development of the Intelligent Personal Agent is in partnership with SoundHound. Hyundai launched its new Intelligent Personal Assistant in 2019, with the Hyundai Motor Company itself being responsible for bringing it to market.
Hyundai will showcase the Intelligent Personal Agent at CES 2018, giving attendees a sneak peek at the future of automotive technology. With these exciting new additions to its lineup, Hyundai is clearly committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the automotive industry.
