Intense Rainfall in Delhi: Navigate Away from Flooded Roads and Traffic Havoc Today
The India Meteorological Division (IMD) has issued a 'yellow alert' for moderate rainfall in Delhi, marking the second consecutive day of light to moderate rain in the city. The rainfall on Thursday, according to the IMD, was 31.2 mm between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The rainfall has caused flooded roads in numerous locations across the city, including the Libaspur underpass, Maharani Bagh Taimur Nagar cut, CDR Chowk, Mehrauli towards Gurugram, Andheria Mode towards Vasant Kunj, and the stretch near Hanuman Setu on Shanti van to Hanuman Mandir Carriageway. The rain has also left numerous parts of the National Capital Area soaked.
In response to the flooded roads, the Delhi Traffic Police has released a list of waterlogged areas to avoid during rush hour. This includes the locations under the Nizamuddin bridge, Singhu Border near the fuel pump, and MB Road towards Sainik Farm carriageway. The traffic police advise motorists to exercise caution and avoid these areas to ensure a smoother commute.
The fresh spells of rain before the withdrawal of downpour from the National Resources Area may help to cover the 46% deficit in rainfall till September 22 early morning. However, the rainfall has affected traffic movement on essential roadways across the city.
It's worth noting that the search results do not provide the names of the locations where the Delhi traffic police published a list of water accumulations on Friday. Nonetheless, the IMD's yellow alert remains in effect, urging residents to stay updated and exercise caution during the inclement weather.
