International Alliance, dubbed I2U2, to be composed of India, Israel, United Arab Emirates, and the United States, plans to meet for the first time next month.
President Joe Biden is set to embark on a trip to the Middle East from July 13 to 16, visiting Israel, the West Bank, and Saudi Arabia. The visit marks a significant step in re-energizing and revitalizing American partnerships globally.
During his journey, Biden will hold a virtual summit with the heads of state from the I2U2 grouping – India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. This will be the first virtual summit for the I2U2 grouping, which focuses on food security and other fields of cooperation.
The official did not disclose specific initiatives that the I2U2 grouping will discuss during the virtual summit. However, it is known that biotechnology is a popular area of collaboration between Israel and the UAE, and strengthening trade and financial ties between these countries is in the interest of the US.
The I2U2 grouping is one of the new partnerships that extend beyond the Middle East, as stated by the official. These new partnerships are considered essential to the strategy of empowering partners and encouraging them to work more closely together, leading to a more secure region and to Israel's security and prosperity over the longer term.
The visit also focuses on Israel's growing integration into the region, including through the Abraham Accords with the UAE, Morocco, and Bahrain, as well as strengthening ties between Israel, Jordan, and Egypt.
The official mentioned the I2U2 grouping, known as I2U2, as one of the new groupings of partners. Each of the participating nations – India, Israel, the UAE, and the US – are technological centers, with India being a large consumer market and a significant manufacturer of advanced products.
The summit will focus on discussions regarding food security and other areas of cooperation. The official believes that these discussions show the return of American leadership to bring nations together to address common threats and challenges.
The official did not specify which other leaders Biden will interact with during his visit, but it is expected that President Biden, Prime Minister Bennett, President Modi, and President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will attend the summit.
The visit is part of a sequence of international interactions at a crucial moment, as stated by the official. The official did not mention any other topics that will be discussed during Biden's visit to the Middle East region.
Interestingly, Biden's first visit to Israel as President will be nearly 50 years after his first visit to the country as a young legislator. This visit is seen as a significant milestone in the longstanding relationship between the US and Israel.
