International Health Organization is advocating for increased safeguards against future pandemics

The World Health Organization (WHO) has taken a significant step towards preventing future global health crises, as member states agreed on a contract to combat diseases worldwide and improve health. The International Pandemic Agreement was signed in Switzerland on April 16, 2025, and was presented and adopted at the 78th World Health Assembly in May 2025.

This agreement comes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began at the start of 2020 and spread worldwide, causing numerous deaths and illnesses. The pandemic exposed numerous challenges, such as the distribution of vaccine materials and protective clothing, which the new agreement aims to address.

The WHO is an international organization that works closely with the United Nations (UNO) to combat diseases and improve health. The current pandemic, caused by the Corona virus Sars-Cov-2, was first discovered in China and quickly spread to Germany and other countries. The disease caused by the Corona virus is known as Covid-19, and several vaccines have since been developed to combat it.

The agreement states that each country should do everything to immediately identify dangerous diseases and share important information about disease-causing agents with other countries. Companies are encouraged to share their knowledge about medicines and vaccine materials, but this is voluntary. All important products, such as masks and vaccine materials, should be distributed fairly.

It's worth noting that the USA is not involved in the WHO's contract, as they have expressed intentions to leave the organization. Despite this, the WHO continues to work towards its mission of improving global health and preventing future pandemics.

The symptoms of the Corona virus include cough and fever, and it can cause severe lung disease and, in the worst case, death. The WHO's new agreement is a promising step towards ensuring that all countries are prepared to respond quickly and effectively to future pandemics, and that vital products are distributed fairly and equitably.
