In the picturesque town of Zierenberg, the career mentoring project has been making a significant impact in the lives of young people for almost 15 years. This project, funded by the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration, has been working in cooperation with schools to provide valuable support for students seeking apprenticeships.

Recently, a "Fit for the Job Interview" training was held at the Elisabeth-Selbert School, where 64 students had the opportunity to practice presenting themselves confidently and convincingly for apprenticeship interviews. The volunteers in the project, who function as experienced, competent, and empathetic conversation partners, provided invaluable feedback on application documents and personal appearance.

The feedback from the young participants has been overwhelmingly positive. One student shared, "I had never had a job interview before. It's good to know how such a thing works, and I now know what I can improve."

The career mentoring project offers individual support to these young people, helping them navigate the often daunting process of finding an apprenticeship. This year, over 400 young people have benefited from the project's training offer, a record number.

The 10 volunteer career mentors who participated in the training enjoy their commitment and contact with the young people. They undergo regular further training and reflection discussions to stay prepared for their task.

If you're interested in learning more about the project or volunteering, Project Coordinator Brigitte Vogler is the person to contact. She can be reached at 0561 1003-1275 or via email at [email protected].

The career mentoring project continues to make a positive difference in the lives of young people, empowering them to take the next step towards their future careers.
