Magpul Introduces the Breslau Knife, Crafted with Innovative Metal Injection Molding

Introducing a Revolutionary Everyday Carry Knife from Magpul, Crafted via Metal Injection Molding Technique

Magpul, the renowned firearms accessories producer founded in 1999 by a former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant, has unveiled its second knife, the Breslau. The Breslau is a testament to Magpul's commitment to quality and innovation, showcasing a unique blend of traditional and modern manufacturing techniques.

The Breslau's handle is crafted using Magpul's traditional injection-molded polymer construction, providing a sturdy and comfortable grip. The handle is fitted with a robust Lug Lock and a billet-style 3D tip-up deep-carry pocket clip, ensuring secure carry and easy access when needed.

The Breslau features a pokey Wharncliffe blade with a 0.12" thickness and a hollow-to-flat grind, offering a versatile cutting edge suitable for various tasks. The blade is deployed via a flipper tab and features a built-in friction reduction system at the pivot, ensuring smooth and effortless opening.

One of the most notable aspects of the Breslau is its use of Metal Injection Molding (MIM), a manufacturing process that combines metal powders with a binder material to create complex metal parts. This technique is usually used for plastic injection molding but has been adapted for metal in the production of the Breslau's blade, locking mechanism, and pocket clip.

The Breslau knife uses Crucible Industries' CPM S35VN stainless steel, reconfigured as a metal injection molded version called "MVNS35". This innovative approach offers slightly better edge retention than normal S35VN, ensuring the blade maintains its sharpness for longer periods.

The MIM production technique also hugely cuts down on manufacturing waste, making the Breslau a more environmentally friendly choice. The blade's metal branding is raised and possible due to the injection molding process, which can be thought of as an inverse engraving.

The Breslau knife spans 7.375" overall and has a blade measuring 2.94". It is available in three colour options and is currently available for preorder exclusively via BladeHQ, priced at $180.

Magpul has also introduced a new proprietary locking mechanism called a "Lug Lock" on the Breslau, further demonstrating the company's dedication to innovation and quality. Edge impact testing of the MIM'd blade steel proved to be just as good as normal S35VN, ensuring the Breslau's durability.

With the Breslau, Magpul continues to push the boundaries of knife design and manufacturing, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to create a knife that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
