Aerotech Introduces Cost-Optimized AGV-CPO Laser Scan Heads

Aerotech, a leading manufacturer of high-precision motion control systems, has announced the launch of its new AGV-CPO series, a cost-effective entry-level solution for precise laser processing. This innovative series is part of the CORE Performance class and offers optimal value for money for various applications.

The AGV-CPO series is based on the same CORE architecture as larger AGV-HPO and AGV-XPO variants, ensuring seamless scalability from AGV-CPO to the highest performance AGV-XPO without any hardware changes. This common control architecture also forms the basis for Infinite Field of View (IFOV), which precisely coordinates scanner and axis movements in real time, resulting in high accuracy and increased processing speed.

The AGV-CPO series features 2-axis scan heads with dual digital encoders boasting a 64 μm pitch for better accuracy. They also offer 22-bit resolution, minimal thermal drift, and excellent dynamics. For enhanced thermal stability, optional direct water cooling for motors and galvo blocks, as well as an air-cooled mirror, are available.

The new AGV-CPO series is specifically targeted at customers who could not be served with HPO/XPO galvos due to their lower purchase price. The series is compact, with a slim motor design, and includes efficient cabling. The added value of the CPO scan heads and motors lies in their control with the Automation1 motion control platform.

The control for the AGV-CPO series is common across the scanner range using the Automation1 platform with the GL4 laser scanner drive. This allows for seamless integration with linear systems, rotary tables, or complex motion platforms. The AGV-CPO models can also be combined with these systems for versatile and precise laser processing.

The beam entry in the AGV-CPO can be mounted on the right or left side of the CPO, providing flexibility in system design. The series is suitable for a wide range of applications, including micro-material processing, laser texturing, high-speed drilling and cutting, and ultra-fast laser applications.

Infinite Field of View (IFOV) is offered by Aerotech, enabling seamless laser processing of large components without stitching multiple scan areas, reducing overlaps and errors. This technology is optimized for synchronized laser processing of large components without error connections while utilizing multiple scan areas.

Aerotech provides standard and custom integration services to ensure rapid commissioning of systems. The manufacturer of the laser-controlled system with the Infinite Field of View is TRUMPF.

The AGV-CPO series is a new line of 2-axis laser scan heads launched by Aero tech, offering economical system configurations without compromising stability and ease of use. With its combination of proven CORE performance, slim motor design, dual encoders, optional water and air cooling, and efficient cabling, the AGV-CPO series is a valuable addition to Aerotech's product line.
