Introducing the Intel-driven Microsoft Surface 5G notebook - a peek at its initial stage
Microsoft has announced the launch of a new 5G Surface Laptop, designed primarily for business applications. The laptop, priced from $1,799.99, will start shipping on August 26.
The new Surface Laptop 5G integrates Intel's Core Ultra Series 2 processors and features a dynamic antenna system that adapts to its environment. This system utilizes six antennas that adjust based on the device's position or use.
To accommodate 5G connectivity without compromising portability or design, Microsoft used a custom multi-layered laminate. A new material was engineered for the Surface Laptop 5G to allow radio signals to pass through without impacting performance, while maintaining durability, premium feel, and lightness.
The new Surface Laptop 5G supports both physical nano SIMs and eSIMs. The nano SIM slot is conveniently located next to the Surface Connect charging port.
The base model of the new 5G Surface Laptop features an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The top-tier configuration costs $2,699 and is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage.
Extensive testing of the 5G hardware in the Surface Laptop 5G covered over 100 mobile operators in more than 50 countries. This testing ensures the laptop offers constant connectivity and mobile hotspot functionality, making it an ideal tool for businesses on the go.
In addition to the new Surface Laptop 5G, businesses also gained access to the latest Surface Laptop 13-inch and Surface Pro 12-inch models as of the announcement date. All versions of the new 5G Surface Laptop will be available in the Surface platinum silver color.
