Introducing the T51 TrawsCymru Bus Service by TfW

In an exciting development for transport in North Wales, Transport for Wales (TfW) is introducing a new bus service connecting Rhyl and Wrexham, as part of the Network North Wales transport plan. The new service, named T51, will replace the existing 51/X51 services and is set to commence operations in September.

Arriva, a well-known name in the transportation industry, will be operating the new service. The company has worked closely with TfW, local authorities, and customers to shape this service, aiming to provide improved connectivity, higher frequencies, and lower fares.

One of the significant changes is the introduction of an hourly service between Wrexham and Rhyl on a Sunday, a welcome upgrade for Sunday travellers. Additionally, the service between Ruthin and Wrexham will offer hourly buses from September 2025, upgraded from the current two-hourly service.

The new service will be operated by modern, accessible vehicles designed for comfort and sustainability. While the specific vehicle type to be deployed by Arriva from September 2025 has not been explicitly named, related modernization efforts include the installation of the latest VisiWeb passenger information and video surveillance system in Stadler GTW trains, enhancing comfort through automated announcements, LED displays, and improved safety with increased cameras and digital mirrors for sustainability and passenger well-being.

From March 2026, the new bus service will be integrated with rail services and other TrawsCymru routes, further enhancing the overall transport experience for passengers.

From September 2025, the service between Ruthin and Wrexham will also offer simplified fares and digital ticketing options.

Arriva Cymru is looking forward to joining the Traws Cymru family with the commencement of the T51 service in September. This new service is set to revolutionize transportation in North Wales, making travel between Rhyl and Wrexham more accessible, frequent, and affordable for all.
